As I was writing that, though, I was struck by how many quotations and catchphrases there are from movies and TV shows during that time! Here are eighty GF quotes. OK, now I’m not sure how many points I have. Are points cumulative? Is 10 the maximum number of points for each question, or is 14 (1+3+10) points the maximum number if you know all 3 parts?

    • Bufo Calvin Says:

      Thanks for writing, Lady!

      The points are cumulative, so there are really three possibilities for each question and each one is worth points.

      • Lady Galaxy Says:

        In that case, I have 60 points! Even though I forgot which show “Believe it or not it’s just me” went with, I did know that Mike Post was one of the composers. I had a CD of his greatest theme songs. “Greatest American Hero” was one of my favorite shows.

        I am saddened that the TV theme song is almost extinct now.

      • Bufo Calvin Says:

        Thanks for writing, Lady!

        Yes, Mike Post is extraordinary, one of the great TV theme composers (and we can expand Post’s impact) of all time. Just a few of Post’s themes are:

        * The Rockford Files (which, like The Greatest American Hero theme song got separate radio play)
        * Hill Street Blues
        * The Law & Order series (more than one)
        * The A-Team
        * Quantum Leap
        * Doogie Howser

        I really enjoy TV theme songs. Before text-to-speech, what I usually listened to in the car was a CD I (legally) made of TV theme songs…hours of them. When I randomly start singing a song, it’s likely to be a TV theme song…from The Patty Duke Show to Land of the Lost to Houndcats. Part of my vocal warmups in the morning is CatDog (the fast patter helps loosen me up when I get to speak in front of a group), which brings up your last comment.

        For a while, ad-supported (network) shows cut back on theme songs…in part to sell more ads.

        Other models don’t have that same issue. Animated shows, in particular, can benefit from not having to do so much new animation each time. 🙂 They may sometimes be more visual than word-based, though, and they aren’t always original songs. Still, True Blood comes to mind as one example. Oh, and they aren’t entirely dead on the networks, depending on how far back you want to go. 🙂 The Big Bang Theory (which isn’t quite ten years old) has a great theme. 🙂
