Charlie Callas reported dead

Charlie Callas reported dead

Charlie Callas was usually a broad, silly kind of comedian.  He worked with Mel Brooks in Silent Movie, High Anxiety, and History of the World: Part 1.

He was the kind of actor you could count on for a lot of impact in  a little role.  He was a stand-up, and made many appearances on The Tonight Show.

Some may remember him (I do) as Captain Weird on The Andy Williams Show.

He beat Mark Strong to the role of Green Lantern’s enemy Sinestro by more than thirty years in the parody, Legend of the Superheroes.

He often imitated Georgie Jessel and pretending to honk a horn was part of his act (you’d recognize that HONK HONK) if you saw it. 😉

Here’s a clip from the Jerry Lewis telethon to give you an idea of his kind of humor:

It was hard to find something that might not be offensive to somebody…I suppose pianists might not like this one. 🙂

Good-bye, Charlie…the world is a little less HONK HONK silly today…
