Flash! Star Wars coming back to theatres…in 3D

It had to happen, right?  All six Star Wars movies are going  to be re-released in 3D…starting with The Phantom Menace in 2012. 

Wait a second!  2012? JarJar Binks?  The End of the World?  There couldn’t a connection, right? 😉

The rumor is that they are going to come out one a year, in chapter (not original release) order.

Will LucasFilms be able to do good conversions, so the 3D is cool?  Yes, I should think so!  ILM helped with Avatar, and I think they’ll do this carefully. 

The rise in 3D TVs appears to be one reason behind this…because you wanted to buy another set of DVDs, right?  ;)  Oh, that’s if you use DVDs any more…but it ought to be hot to stream to your TV…
