Flash! Martin Gardner, noted Skeptic and literary annotator, reported dead
Martin Gardner was a mathematician, but I think of him most for his Fringe Watcher works and for his annotation of literary classics.
It may surprise casual readers that I would like and list someone who was a Skeptic about paranormal happenings, but I do not advocate for or against them. He was a good writer, and that’s important.
I got the most joy, though, from books like his annotated Alice in Wonderland. These were marvelous works of scholarship, providing the background to well-known works.
We will miss his perspective and wit.
