The Week Ahead: May 10 – May 16 2010

Monday, May 10

On TV, you get new eps of Johnny Test, Adventure Time, Chuck, Flapjack, House, 24, The Big Bang Theory, Castle, and two new to Syfy eps of Monster.

Tuesday, May 11

On TV, it’s the final four on Idol, new eps of Glee, V, Deadliest Warrior (Aztec Warrior versus Zande Warrior) and Lost, and a new to BBC America ep (2nd season debut) of Ashes to Ashes (sort of like Life on Mars, but in the 1980s)

Tuesday’s videogames include: Lost Planet 2; Age of Conan: Rise of the Godslayer; a 3-D version of Batman: Arkham Asylum; a new Naruto game; and a game based on the House TV series

Books today include: The Once Upon a Time Map Book (this is a 16-page book with maps of Neverland, Oz, and more…and it is intended to help kids learn map-reading); The New Frontier of Religion Science: Religious Experience, Neuroscience, and the Transcendant; The Named  by Marianne Curley (from the British publisher of Harry Potter, this time travel book promises to start a series; Moonshine (Kindle edition) by Alaya Johnson (this one looks interesting…an alternative 1920s New York mixing social activism and vampires…the blurbs are impressive)

Wednesday, May 12

On TV, it’s Rebel Monkeys night on NatGeo, American Idol goes to three, America’s Next Top Model has its season finale, there’s a new Weird or What, and a new Happy Town ep

Thursday, May 13

On TV, the Vampire Diaries wraps its first season, you get new eps of Survivor, Fringe, Flash Forward, Mentalist, Ultimate Parkour Challenge, and it’s the Apocalypse as Supernatural finishes its fifth season (and prepares for a new direction next season)

Friday, May 14

On TV, Cartoon Network gives you new eps of Ben 10 and Generator Rex, CBS gives you Medium and Ghost Whisperer, Smallville ends its 9th season, you get a new ep of Most Haunted, and there are new eps of Stargate:Universe and Merlin on Syfy 

It’s a big weekend for conventions: Anime Central in Rosemont Illinois; Demicon 21 in Des Moines; Leprecon 36 in Mesa Arizona; Mobicon in Mobile Alabama; Steampunk World’s Fair in Piscataway New Jersey; and the UFO Fest in McMinnville Oregon (site of a famous series of UFO photographs)…Colin Andrews (Crop Circles) and famed abductee Travis Walton are scheduled to speak.   As usual, I recommend Fanboy’s Convention List for details

Ridley Scott directs Russell Crowe, Cate Blanchett, Max von Sydow, Mark Addy, and William Hurt (among others) in Robin Hood

Saturday, May 15

On TV, Legend of the Seeker continues its final season, and there’s a new to BBC America ep (Flesh and Stone) of Doctor Who

There’s a 1-day comic and pop culture convention in Asheville, NC (Fanaticon)

Sunday, May 16

On TV, he Survivor of Heroes vs. Villains is named…and we get what might be a very interesting reunion show, Fox has a new Simpsons, Family Guy, and American Dad, and it’s the season finale of Desperate Housewives

Toy Con celebrates the 30th anni of The Empire Strikes Back in Bridgeview, IL
