Flash! Lena Horne reported dead

Lena Horne, the legendary singer and actor, is reported dead at the age of 92.

There was a nobility about Lena Horne, a sense that she graced a location with her presence.  She was never shrill, never harsh, while being clear that racism affected her the way it affected so many.

She was quoted as saying, “It’s not the load that breaks you down, it’s the way you carry it.”

She appeared in a few “all-black” musicals in the 1940s, but was also known for her Glinda the Good in the 1978 Michael Jackson version of the Wiz.  When people sing, “If You Believe”, many of us still think of Lena Horne’s version.

“Believe you can make time stand still…”
