The Week Ahead: May 3 – May 9 2010
For more information on upcoming (and historical) movies, TV shows, books, conventions, paranormal happenings, and pretty much anything that interests me, see the ever-growing Measured Circle Pop Culture Timeline.
Monday, May 3
On TV, you can catch the 100th episode of Cartoon Network’s Aqua Teen Hunger Force…at midnight (the middle of Sunday night). You also get new eps of The Amazing Spiez!, The Big Bang Theory, House, Chuck (featuring Fred Willard & Swoosie Kurtz), Castle, and two new to Syfy eps of Monster.
Tuesday, May 4
On TV, you get a new ep (The Mission) of Ancient Aliens on History, Glee, Lost (we’re in the final month), Deadliest Warrior (Al Capone vs. Jesse James), American Idol (5 left), and V.
Tuesday’s books include: The Infinity Gate (the 3rd book in the DarkGlass Mountain series by Sara Douglass); Hunted by the Others (vamps and a private detective by Jess Haines); Dragon Haven by Robin Hobb (book 2: the first book is currently available free for Kindle owners); Alex Van Helsing: Vampire Rising (sounds reminiscent of the BBC series Demons, where a teen finds out he is a descendant of vampire hunter Van Helsing from the original Dracula); Dragons of the Hourglass Mage (the conclusion to a trilogy by Weis and Hickman…20 years of writing together); and Firefly: Still Flying (about the Joss Whedon series…includes new fiction by screenwriters of the original series, including Ben Edlund!)
Wednesday, May 5
On TV, you get two new Rebel Monkeys eps, a new Weird or What (featuring cocaine mummies, and Mexican super-runners), the sixth season finale of Ghost Hunters, Happy Town, and the series debut of Worst Case Scenario.
Thursday, May 6
On TV, Kathy Reichs (who wrote the books on which the series is based) pens a “Wiccan” mystery on Bones, new eps of Flash Forward, Survivor, Vampire Diaries, Fringe, Supernatural, and The Mentalist. It’s also the series premiere of Ultimate Parkour Challenge on MTV. What’s Parkour? Start here, get there, look cool doing it (jump from roof to roof, flip off buildings, run up walls…like Spider-Man without that annoying radioactive spider bite). 😉
Friday, May 7
On TV, new eps of Ben 10 and Generator Rex, Smallville, Ghost Whisperer and Medium, Stargate Universe and Merlin, and Most Haunted.
Saturday, May 8
On TV, Legend of the Seeker has a new ep as it winds down its run, and there’s a new to BBC America ep of Doctor Who. Syfy presents Mongolian Death Worm (which somehow, I don’t think will be much like the real reports of a fairly small critter). Betty White also hosts Saturday Night Live…she couldn’t say no to FaceBook. ;)
Sunday, May 9
On TV, it’s the season finale of The Amazing Race, and new eps of The Simpsons and American Dad. NatGeo has a special on the Malleus Maleficarum, the 15th Century document that was the blueprint for all those witch hunts.
